Talking About Corruption in the Philippines

December 12th, 2008

Our beloved Philippines is never left behind when talking about the most corrupt nations.

Despite all the achievements we are receiving from other categories like Manny Pacquiao’s winning in boxing and Arnel Pineda and Charice Pempengco sensation in singing. The truth that our country is seriously ill with corruption is still very saddening. And, what is worst is that when I checked the other nations who are also in the list, the very evident common denominator in most of them is poor infrastructure, poor economy and a very unstable government.

And, if you were to compare our country from them, perhaps you would agree with me that our nation is far from those descriptions. Then, why are we tagged as the most corrupt country in Asia?

Well, this is the reality of life, it is not happening here in our country alone, but sadly to some of the poorest nation, too… like in Nigeria (news from cnn.com), Somalia, Myanmar (from Forbes.com) and other nations which have also some of the worst stories of corruption.

But for now, only time can tell when will Corruption die. But at least, we know that within ourselves we can do something to stop corruption. And, I think heeding the infomercial  “no to Palakasan” is one step closer to a corrupt free nation. What do you think? :-)
