Dingdong Dantes | One of E! Entertainment 25 Sexiest Men of the World 2008

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Dingdong Dantes ranked number 6 on E! Entertainment (USA)’s 25 Sexiest Men of the World 2008. Whoah! That was indeed very flattering to see a Filipino name on the list.

Definitely, Dingdong is one of the finest actor of his generation, no doubt about that. But as for me, I am really quite surprised to see his name on the list, honestly, I am really not a fan of him (ooopss, no offense meant to his fans ) , I just think that there are still more Pinoy actors who are also qualified to be on that list, aside from him. I am just not sure why it is only him they have picked out.

But anyway, since I am proud to be Pinay… it is still an honor for us to have a “kababayan” among the list.

Just for some thought… may I ask the Pinays out there, if you were given a chance to choose two more names, who would they be? <Derek Ramsey and Richard Gutierrez>

I heart Alaminos City | Home of the Hundred Islands

faces of Alaminos City

I heart Alaminos City!

Not only because of its beautiful rolling hills, or its extraordinarily long straight highways with typical luscious green country scenery, wherein house structures are a combination of the modern, the historical Spanish style and of our very own traditional bahay-kubo. All, having the mountain as their backdrop and as well as the occasional scenery of bridges wherein you can see the waters from the river lovingly unites with the sea water, a unique fusion of the salty and fresh water. Or because of the easy access to the world renowned beauty of Alaminos Beach, the Hundred Islands and as well as to many hidden nature getaways on the nearby towns of Agno, Mabini, Bani, Bolinao and Anda.

And, also not only because of my favorite delectable sea foods, like the yellowfin, prawns, lapu-lapu, malaga, sinungayan, mulmul, talaba, and of course not to forget the sea weed arurusip with kamatis (tomato), bagoong (fish sauce), some slices of onion and itlog maalat (salted egg), yummy! My mouth is already watering, and do you know that the best thing about those fishes is that, since I am not a good cook, I can easily grill them to perfection and voila, instant feast for a hungry stomach.

What else? The friendly people, the lively festivities wherein the talaba and the native longanisa are the star, the sports plaza where you can play badminton-‘til-you-drop, the rustic church where there is an evening mass every October in celebration of the Month of the Rosary, and because it is also the month wherein my heart learned the “poetry of life, adventure and love. And love above all, no… not the artful postures of love, not playful and poetical games of love for the amusement of an evening. But love that … overthrows life… –(I just got that from a friend who loves shakespeare in love :-) )

…. sigh, the list is just endless, but definitely, the best rural place for me is Alaminos City.

The Doting Aunt

running away from the waves

This is Jotel, as I fondly call her, my only niece to my only sister. She grew up with us because her mom has to work. (well, that is the stark reality of Filipino families nowadays.)

She is already in Grade 1, but last semester, her parents tried to unite their family and enrolled her in Manila. But, goodness, because of over population and poor education system here in our country, the child didn’t cope up well to the assigned schedule which is to be in school before 5:45 am to attend the flag ceremony. In the end, the child returned and transferred here in our place, again,(to the delight of her grandparents! ahm!)

So, here I am, the doting “single-by-profession” tita has to do some “sacrificial” duties over again. That includes waking up early in the morning to prepare her to school and more duties that supermoms always do, while managing my own little shop at the same time.

The truth is I am not complaining here. Yes, I am not! :-) I guess it is just normal to be exasperated in dealing with hyperactive child once in a while; I hope all moms agree on that. But, then at the end of the day, it is really rewarding when little hands will cling onto your neck and kiss your face and say loving words. Actually, the child is already lightheartedly saying “mommy” to me, but that’’s a no, no! Why, because despite everything, I still would not want to encourage the child to loose even a single affection to her real mom. I have already seen so many cases like mine, wherein the children were brainwashed (unintentionally or not) to the extent of developing resentments to their parents. And, I don’t want that to happen to us.

The point is I am just doing this because I love my sister and most of all I love the child. :-)

Christmas Jewelry

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Perhaps it is say to assume that all women love jewelry, even men loves it, too! At least some women prefer to have at least one in their jewelry box, if not too many. But of course, who would not anyway, even a simple stud makes all the difference to brighten up a woman face.

So, here is a nice guide that hopefully can help you in selecting that perfect piece of Christmas jewelry if you prefer to give one this season.

The sapphire jewelry is gorgeous, and it can also be perfect for people born on September because it is their birthstone. Either you choose the pink or dark blue sapphire stone colors; they can still look fabulous with gold or white gold ensemble. It can also be in the form of earrings, pendant, bracelets or rings. While, diamond jewelry is the birth stone for April, and, we all know that diamonds are one of the finest of all jewelries and are uncommon, unlike other precious metals like gold.

There are still many designs and stones you can choose from, and to find the best selection according to designs and prices, you can now easily check them through the internet, which makes it easier to choose because they are arranged accordingly. And, prices are available to consider, designs are beautifully displayed, you can also check some selections according to product type, either earring or necklaces made of gold or white gold, or according to stones and occasion such as wedding bands or engagement rings. Have a nice time choosing and Happy Christmas!

The Power of Teleconferencing

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Communication is one of the major key players on the success of global economy as we have seen in the past years. Companies with branches abroad rely heavily on communication for the smooth flow of their operation.

That is why if you are in this kind of business it is good to know the different kinds of teleconferencing you can use so that your businesses can communicate any time, any where and see what will work best for you in terms of payment options and services.

Web Conferencing or online meeting, no need to rush from one place to another just to attend a meeting right on time. As long as you have your computer and internet access working, surely your attendance for that important meeting will be counted. Plus, the benefit of actual access to documents being referenced is possible, too.

While, Video Conference eliminates the cost of bringing meeting attendees to a central location, and still allows them to share ideas and see each others face as they would in a traditional meeting.

On the other hand, the least expensive of all methods is the Audio Conferencing. Some servers provide International toll free access, allowing companies with global partners the ability to communicate efficiently and cost-effectively. You can also choose from many services to customize your audio conference including the option of having a full time operator, the ability for digital record and playback, operator provided Q&A, and a host of other services designed to personalize your experience and get the most from audio conferencing.

And, up to this moment, sometimes I can’t help but still be amazed with how technology changed our world significantly through the use of modern equipment, one can easily pass on information from one country to another with remarkable speed, just by the use of teleconferencing.

Personalized Gifts for Babies

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

It never fails to amaze me how babies can bring out the most loving and protective side of adults. Whenever a news came out that a mother has conceived a child, surely everybody is so excited, especially the parents in most cases. Everybody is busy preparing little and big things for the upcoming baby. Even if the gender of the child in the womb is still undetermined, someone in the family has already definitely bought a newborn baby gift.

What more if the baby has already came out? Of course, the more we wanted to shower the precious little angel with all the love and things which will show our love and give the child all the comfort he needs.

Personally, as much as possible, more than the price, my first concern is the safety and I opt to buy unique personalized baby gifts. But most of the time, I rarely buy shoes, because I find the designs too general and not that so special. J But not anymore especially now that personalized shoes is already available, I am sure, I am not the only who is excited to give the first custom leather baby shoes this Christmas.

(Sigh…) it really feels good to see a baby smile, so pure and angelic. I thinks even the most hardened heart can melt just holding a baby’s delicate hand. I wonder how cute I was when I was still that small, but I guess, base on the number of gifts I saw on my pictures, surely I am that adorable!  J

The Miss Earth 2007 Incident

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I received a comment the other day from a certain Joel De Lima on my blog post where I featured Carlene Aguilar as the first Miss Earth Philippines Winner.

His comment went like this: what is the cause for being a Miss Earth candidate, when they let clariza de lima died, and do nothing.

Because I didn’t know anything about what he is talking about, I tried to google search the name Clariza De Lima..

And here is a summary of the report I’ve read, sent by Joel de Lima (the elder brother) to Women’s Desk (another website concerned in helping women fight for their rights)

During the Miss Earth 2007 pageant, a tourist bus under Isarog Line Express carrying the delegates of the beauty pageant accidentally ran over the 19-year-old daughter of a farmer in Sto. Tomas, Batangas last October 25 , 2007 around 10:30 pm while on its way to Camarines Sur.

The victim, Clariza de Lima, slipped into a coma and died nine hours after the incident due to the severity of her injuries.

Concerned citizens immediately flagged down a passing jeepney to bring de Lima to St. Cabrini Hospital in Barangay Dos, also in Sto. Tomas town.

Police said they escorted the two buses to the municipal police station around 11 p.m. where Peñaflorida, the bus driver was held in custody. The Miss Earth delegates were not allowed to disembark the buses at that time. An official of Carousel Productions, which organized the beauty tilt, said the delegates were asleep when the accident happened.

“We were asleep when it happened. We were not aware. We just found out because we were brought to the police station,” Peachy Veneracion, Carousel vice-president for external relations, said.

A desk officer said the two buses left without Peñaflorida less than an hour after arrival. She said the two female officers of the Police Security and Protection Office who were escorting the Miss Earth contestants wanted to leave in a hurry “because some of the delegates were already asking questions about what happened.”

Mr. De Lima, the victims father said he wanted to sue the owners of the bus company after his daughter died. He added, however, that he changed his mind because he wanted to give Clariza a decent burial.

That is why he accepted the P130, 000 offered by Mr. Steve Cu (owner of Isarog Lines)

A note on the police blotter on the settlement, which was signed on October 26, 2007 at 9:30 a.m., reads: “The father of said pedestrian victim and owner of said Mitsubishi Fuso bus affixed their signature below to testify among others that the father of said pedestrian victim is no longer interested to file criminal or civil complaint against to the driver and owner of said Mitsubishi Fuso bus.” Signatories were Jaime de Lima, Steve Cu, Dante Penaflorida, Renato Soriano and Carlos Santos.”

With the money, de Lima paid P12,000 to the hospital, P35,000 for a burial plot in Paete, Laguna; and P42,000 for the wake and burial.

And now, almost a year after, understandably the heart aches and anger are still not healed.

And maybe that is why Joel De Lima (the brother) is still asking for justice to what happened to her sister and I also read some messages he sent to some sites just last month, he said:

Miss Earth and Carousel Prod. Did Not Do Anything and Let Clariza de Lima DIED.

I dont want money or to put someone in jail, What i Want is for the Carousel Prod. and Miss Earth to give a public apology to my family for doing nothing, and let my sister Clariza de Lima DIED.

What is the cause for being a Miss Earth candidate?

They just left Clariza de Lima dying and do NOTHING.

To Mr. De Lima, honestly I didn’t understand some of the points you are trying to raise. But I just hope Carousel Production can hear your request and grant you the public apology, if as you’ve said, it is the only thing you want.

For the meantime, my readers and I will just pray for your family and for your sister.

The More You Hate, The More You Love Paris Hilton

Photobucket Image Hosting

Paris Hilton is one of the most photographed personality in the world, many loved her and many more hated her.

She was talked and shown from many angle all exploring the negative side of her, but in her new documentary-like film “Paris, Not France” you will see a very different side of Paris Hilton, and I kindda like to see her that way, to see the serious part of her. Not always ridiculed for everything she does and everything she says.

According to the article:

The documentary features candid interviews with Hilton, her parents and sister, gossip columnists and cultural observers examining her celebrity and offering insights on the dumb-blonde facade that fronts it. “Paris, Not France” shows a much more self-possessed and well-spoken Hilton.

While driving her car, Hilton delivers a long, anguished monologue, discussing her horror over the sex tape with a former boyfriend that found its way on to the Internet. She states that she did not remember filming it, then concludes with her characteristic humor: “I looked gross in that video.”

Paris notes that the airhead image was heavily due to the persona she copped on her reality show The Simple Life,” saying network executives wanted it to be a cross between “`Legally Blonde‘ and `Green Acres.’ They wanted me to be really dumb.”

But personally, I think many people doesn’t really hate Paris Hilton, they are just being dismayed with the things that are happening to her life knowing that she could have been in a better situation especially since she was so blessed with wealth, beauty and fame. But still, I like Paris Hilton better than Lindsay Lohan.. :-)
